Bio
I have been a soccer coach, referee, and club administrator for 18 years in the state of Arizona. By trade, I am a physical therapist with years of experience in dealing with sports related injuries. I also have experience in industrial safety, wellness, and as a personal trainer. One of my roles with the local soccer clubs has been as the Safety Director for our youth programs 5-18 yrs of age. Both from personal experience and through review of current literature, it is apparent to me that soccer safety does not receive the amount of attention it deserves. This puts our youths who play the game of soccer at greater risk of serious injury and even death when well-meaning adults fail to recognize those risks and implement proper safeguards to ensure a safe playing environment. It is my hope that this website/blog will provide a forum where current information on soccer safety can be presented and discussed. A future stand-alone website on soccer safety will be developed in the coming months.
