Bio
Karen Fleming is a Professor in the T. C. Jenkins Department of Biophysics at Johns Hopkins University. She runs a nationally funded research lab investigating membrane protein structure, function and energetics. She has mentored numerous female graduate students and - as a woman in science herself - has a longstanding interest in expanding the potential of Women in STEM by educating them on the bias and barriers challenging their advancement in science. She served as the Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Biophysics major for 8 years and is now the Co-Chair of the Women Faculty Forum at the Homewood Campus.
