FROM COLOMBIA TO A NEW ART MOVEMENT
Welcome to my journey.
I am Rafael Salazar—artist, philosopher, and founder of Motionalism™,
"The Art of Emotion in Motion."
THE JOURNEY
Born in Cali, Colombia, I was shaped by the vibrant artistic energy
of Barranquilla and the revolutionary Grupo Barranquilla movement.
Over six decades, I've:
→ Explored the intersection of surrealism, abstraction, and modernity
→ Exhibited globally and built collections worldwide
→ Mastered both traditional and digital mediums
→ Witnessed the evolution of art from analog to digital,
institutional to independent
And now, at 82, while art schools founded in 1907 close their doors
and traditional institutions struggle, I'm doing the opposite:
I'm founding a new movement.
THE MOVEMENT
Motionalism™ is not a style. It is a language—
a grammar of energy, silence, and transformation.
It reframes motion not as physical action but as emotional flow:
subtle, internal, deeply human.
Through geometric forms, rich textures, and sculptural illusions,
I translate the invisible pulse of feeling into visible form.
