Bio
I grew up with a passion for cooking, baking, and healthy food. I remember coming home from middle school excited to tackle a new dish I wanted to learn. My after-school snack would often end up being something like homemade Chinese eggplant or stuffed squash blossoms. My after-school creations became more and more adventurous, so it was that after high school I decided to go to Culinary School in San Francisco to turn my love of cooking into a potential career. I began this career in the heart of Napa Valley, working first as a line chef and then moving on to do catering. I was able to go into the beautiful family homes of wineries and vineyards to cater private parties. Those kitchens are to die for! As much as I loved cooking, I knew that I would eventually need a job with more standard hours and went back to school for my second love: nutrition. So four years later I graduate UC Berkeley with my nutritional sciences degree and began to pack my bags for an internship in Baltimore, MD. For the first time in years I wasn't doing homework and studying for tests, giving me some much deserved time to play around in the kitchen again! This bring us to the birth of a blog. I intent to share the recipes I am proud to have developed as a nutrition student and dietetic intern. My focus is on fresh, scratch-made food for a balanced diet. I don't believe in fad diets, supplements, or packaged food. Other than that, most foods can be considered healthy so long as everything is balanced in moderation for a healthy life and happy taste buds!
