I received a B.A. degree in mass media/print journalism, with honors, at the University of the District of Columbia in 1980. For more than 23 years, I worked as public affairs specialist at a federal agency and as editor of its news digest, compiled to track national trends in the media. I served as president of the former 200-member Washington, D.C.-based African American Writers Guild, from Nov. 1989-Feb. 1983. A student of African American history, I have published articles in Players magazine, The Washington Informer, The Washington Afro-American, The Capital Spotlight, The National Chronicle; the former newsletter, HEW Now; Free Voice, a student newspaper of the UDC, where as a student I served as news editor and features editor/reporter. I am an avid tennis player, golfer, world traveler, and reader.
