Bio
Rich Jewett MA, ATC is an Adler Trained Professional Coach and Holistic Psychotherapist, a Team Coach trained in the Living Systems Approach to group coaching, and certified in the EQi-2.0 Emotional Intelligence assessment and TESI (Team Emotional and Social Intelligence Survey). He has been involved in personal growth facilitation, mediation and conflict resolution since 1982, utilizing his background in developmental psychology and object-relations theory.
Rich received his Master’s Degree in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado in 1990, and maintained for many years a private practice in Evergreen and Denver, Colorado. He graduated from the Adler School of Coaching in Phoenix, Arizona in 2010 with 132 hours of International Coach Federation accredited coach-specific training. Rich was on the delivery team for Adler coach trainings in Denver, Colorado and Istanbul, Turkey from 2010 through 2013.
His extensive experience includes participating in the training of psychotherapists and the authoring of nine books, most applicably Bitter Medicine: The Challenge of Immaturity In The Adult American Male, its sequel, Bitter Medicine and the Enneagram, and Dance On Fire, an exploration of dramatic spontaneous experiences often deemed spiritual in nature. Rich’s background in the corporate world is through his 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry during which he worked in major disaster situations nationwide. This work has resulted in his book, Four Storms: True Confessions of an Insurance Adjuster, written “in the trenches” during the 2004 hurricane season in Florida. Presented as a light-hearted yet impactful diary, Four Storms is meant as a primer for any homeowner concerned about insurance. Beyond this, Rich’s fictional writing, Roger, The Buddha and the Whale, and Weavers explores the theme of unexpected challenges and changes that confront many of us during the course of our lives.
As a coach, Rich is adept at responsive listening and providing a high degree of trust, doing so with caring guidance, often to individuals experiencing life-altering losses and high degrees of stress. He coaches individuals, couples, business consultants and small business owners from Colorado to Istanbul, Turkey. He approaches coaching with the Adlerian attitude that all individuals are possessed of unique strengths, resources and abilities that, no matter how underused, can be brought to bear on any situation in which a person may find themselves. In this, his coaching aims at assisting individuals in accessing their core values, focusing on the choices before them, and bringing forward their best resources. Rich is proficient in the Enneagram personality typing system, and is adept at listening deeply and recognizing the nuances and shifting dynamics in a group environment. He possesses a depth of wisdom and sincerity that creates a courageous learning environment. Mr. Jewett is known for his holistic thinking, anchoring his individual and team coaching clients in their most resourceful selves in order to make courageous strategic choices. He advocates life-long learning, mutual respect, balanced living and enjoyment in the learning environment.
