Bio
Not satisfied with one creative outlet, Rob feels a synergy between different expressive mediums that is often visible in his work. Repeating patterns that evolve and change has been a consistent element in both his sculpture and his musical compositions.
His musician identity Vitreous Flux literally means “flowing like glass” and was taken from a painting technique done by a New England artist. Rob has performed his music at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. Having a background in electronics, Rob has also designed and built his own electronic instruments for his music studio. Here again, he feels a parallel through the use of repeating patterns much like the symmetries and angles throughout his sculpture.
Rob says, “I admire and am challenged by art and attitudes that challenge you to think in a new direction”. Taking influence from artists across the creative spectrum, he admires art by Picasso and M.C.Escher, and the works of Buckminster Fuller and Frank Lloyd Wright. Each of these artists have taken cues from patterns in nature, and it is here that Rob finds his inspiration.
