Bio
Hello! My name is Ron Whited. Along with my wife and daughter, I live in the beautiful 'Sunshine State' of Florida. After recently retiring from a very long work career, we decided it was time to escape the bitter cold of Ohio!
I came to the Lord when I was 22 years old, kneeling beside my kitchen table. Prior to that wonderful occasion, my church experience was limited to a handful of visits as a child. To say that I was a heathen would be a huge understatement, and the fact that I became a Christian is in itself a miracle!
Since giving my heart to the Lord, I have served the church for over forty years, primarily in a bi-vocational role. In that time I have served in every capacity from Pastor to Janitor! I'll leave it to you to guess which one I liked the most!
I love people and I always root for the underdog. I have a huge soft spot in my heart for children, especially hungry, abused, or neglected children. I also love seniors, and have enjoyed having services with them in various nursing homes.
I have been described as an independent, out of the box type of thinker, which is good because long ago I realized that God did not call me to be a cookie cutter Christian. I have been known to frustrate many people because I tend to over analyze just about everything before I accept it as truth. I know for a fact that until I breathe my last breath, God will still be working on me.
My world view is most definitely shaped by Scripture, and I am unashamedly conservative in my Christian views. Liberal theology and I are like oil and water. I believe in the Sovereignty of God, and accept that He is in total control of the world in which we live.
I often find myself at odds with much of what passes for “Church” today. Although I love God's Church deeply, I mourn for what it has become as it continues to embrace the ways of the world. If you are familiar with C.H. Spurgeon and his "downgrade controversy", you will better understand that statement.
This does not mean that I have placed God in a box and that He can only do things one way. Far from it. His ways are 'past our understanding', so who am I? Where I draw the line is when the church becomes nearly indistinguishable from the world.
My favorite book in the Bible is Jeremiah. That is because I can identify with his heart, ministry, and calling and I see much of myself in him.
My interests outside of family and church include bass fishing, gardening, and acoustic guitars. On a really good day you can find me at a quiet spot at the beach being mesmerized by the surf, getting my hands dirty in a pot of flowers or vegetables, playing my guitar, or stalking a big bass along the edge of a pond somewhere.
Praise God, I am enjoying the journey!
