Bio
Fashion in China is a surprising game. Many different levels, many house of cards, much smoke and mirrors. One constant: the creativity and utter lack of fear or sense of ridicule and/of restraint from the young professional girls that populate this "megapolis' capital of China - very hard to get a figure, but nearing 20 millions people - in 2012.
Without historical reference nor guidance from their "elders", those young women are coming to age in a China on speed and their outfits reflects this energy. For most of them way more dash than cash contrary to western belief and the sea of "interpretations" from the magazines, pop stars and their vision of the idealized "Western World".
Those young girls are a great mirror for me to try to better understand Fashion and China and decipher the true aspiration and taste of this up-and-coming first free generation.
It is for me constantly a fascinating reflection on style, fashion, trends, and fun as well as consumerism and the cultural differences between our worlds.
And mostly it is fun!
