About the author:
Justine O'hara, has taught Spanish at the elementary level for 18 years. During her teaching career, she started focusing her teaching using the Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling method. TPRS is a language teaching method based on the idea that the brain needs enormous amounts of Comprehensible Input (CI) to acquire a new language, focusing on using interactive, co-created oral stories, readings and novels that contain the most commonly-used words and phrases in foreign languages to help students get familiar with a new language easily and quickly. Justine O'hara started writing books to her students to interact with them and create opportunities for students to speak and try out their new language, with the purpose of resulting in rapid gains in fluency. This methodology was introduced by Blaine Ray in 1990’s, it is an interactive strategy to keep student’s interest, improve their students’ learning abilities and learn the language lessons faster than traditional teaching.
