Bio
Robins who choose to stay for the winter in the cold of the North rather than go south for a warmer and easier life represent the pluckiness of one who stays the course, who is in it for the long haul, reaping the joy that emanates from the experience. It is through the staying that strength, stamina and character are built.
I was what is known as a strong-willed child. Often conflicted, I struggled between following my innate determination to find my own way with an unbridled will and taking advice from a wiser, more experienced voice. My bent leaned toward finding my own way; not the easiest or smartest way but often how I learned. I have come to appreciate my willful nature as one of my greatest Gifts. Because of it I learned to persevere, channel my determination. I learned to stay through hard times and face life’s challenges.
Thankfully I had faithful parents who believed in me. I have a sturdy German husband, three priceless children, six amazing grandchildren and two adorable sisters. I have a God who only because of His infinite mercy and grace sees good and purpose in me. My family and my God are at the very heart of my world. Without them, there would be no story to tell.
Life’s journey is a never ending series of choices. Each brings us to a fork in the road where we must make a decision; stay the course or change direction. Our choices, the good and the bad, teach us. They determine and add flavor to our story. Did we stay when Called to stay? How do we know if we chose wisely? Often our answers come quickly but equally as often they are elusive. Ann Voskamp wrote, “God reveals Himself in rearview mirrors. And I have inkling that there are times when we need to drive a long, long distance before we can look back and see God’s back in the rearview mirror. Maybe sometimes about as far as heaven—that kind of distance.”
The longer we live, the more we understand through the vantage of the rear view mirror. I write about life experiences; mine as well as those who are integral to my story. My prayer is for God to inspire my writing so that you may in turn be inspired.
