Bio
I've been a lover of books since I was two years of age. My mother brought me every week to the Public Library in Great Neck where I grew up. I took home stacks of books and read all of them by the due date. Later in my teen years I joined a book group and spent many hours browsing and studying in the grand public library close to home. When psychiatric illness took away my ability to read and write, I was devastated. But my love of the written and spoken word stayed true. I have used words to find my way through a successful psychotherapy process, I have used words to take me through college with a Bachelor's degree in Literature, and I have found solace in words by visiting libraries even in my darkest moments when I cannot read nor write. I give lectures to classes about my experiences of psychotherapy and psychiatric treatment. I rely upon day to day rituals to keep me connected to words, through communicating, reading and writing. I hope you find the same healing sense of joy in words as I do. May my blog entries inspire you to create your own word rituals for healing.
