Bio
I’m 39 years old with a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership. I work at Portland State University as an Instructional Designer, which means I put college course on the Internet. I also am a pedagogical specialist, so I hope my work helps teachers become better at their craft. I have practiced yoga regularly since 2000, and I’ve taught with Timo Jimenez at Yogapada (now Yoga Shala) since 2002. I’m also in a band called, “Vince Schreck & The Expendables.” We play my music, which is a mixture of many styles, but is often characterized as “Americana.” Recently, we’ve changed our focus to doing concerts for kids and their families under the name “The Toy Trains” - mainly covering the music of Dan Zanes, Lisa Loeb and other childhood standards. Please come and see a show!
My wife is Dr. Holly Beckwith, and she practices Naturopathic Medicine. Her primary focus is pediatrics and women’s health. She spends most of her time with our 4 year old son Rhys Evan Schreck, who was born in our living room in a birthing tub. Rhys enjoys so many things in life - bouldering, hiking, doing puzzles, yoga, bike riding, soccer, baseball, whatever! He attends a Waldorf Nursery School two mornings per week, and he enjoys that very much as well. There isn’t much Rhys doesn’t like.
It’s his incredible enthusiasm and energy that gets me so excited to get up, get out and have fun. I want to spend as much time as possible with him, and we’re going to catalog as much of it as possible for your enjoyment and information. Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you out-and-about in Portland.
