Bio
Born in Brooklyn, moved to Long Island when I was 10. Consider myself a very progressive person who grew up in the 60’s, when the NY Times published a front-page, top-of-the-fold, series on Che Guevara. Hard to believe. Got my head smashed a couple of times, did my share of love, drugs, and rock-and-roll, was a conscientious objector to the War in Vietnam, dropped in and out of college where I studied literature and film, and moved to Austin decades ago to pursue graduated studies, again in film and also video.
And here I live, in a city that has traded its soul to be the perennially hip, top 10 city that constantly sells itself as ideal for businesses and people, never mind the reduction in quality of life of those who already live here. The City has broken promise after promise to its citizens and dedicated itself to ceaseless commerce and growth. This is the way of the world and everyone mourns what once was. The story is the same everywhere. The Rust Belt from prosperity to poverty, the Sun Belt from rural to urban gentrification.
