Bio
My name is Shane Kells and I am the Head of School at International School of Riga in Latvia, beginning in July of 2020.
This is my 4th Headship, having taken my first HOS post in July of 2002.
Prior to Latvia, I have been an educator and administrator in several countries around the World.
I started my career as an Elementary teacher at E E Oliver Elementary School in Fairview, Alberta, Canada and worked there for 6 1/2 years. I took a leave of absence from this position in Canada and took a one year placement in Bangkok, Thailand. From there, my path led not back to Canada, but to the United Arab Emirates.
From 1997 – 2002, I was first a teacher and later an administrator at the Technical Studies Institute in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
I became the Founding Head of School at Utahloy International School – Zeng Cheng near Dongguan in Guangdong Province, China. The school opened in 2002 and I remained there as Head of School until 2007.
I moved with my family to Seoul, Korea in 2007 and became the Elementary Principal at Korea International School from 2007 – 2011.
I was Head of School at Canadian International School in Bangalore, India from 2011 - 2018 and at American International School of Kingston in Jamaica last year.
I have been in Education since 1989 and I hail from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
