Artist Derek Shapiro
The beautiful, inspired works of British artist Derek Shapiro have been described by collectors and admirers as ‘modern masterpieces’, and may be viewed in galleries and private collections throughout Europe and America.
A professional artist for over 35 years, Derek began his career as a freehand painter for the world-renowned Wedgwood Group, within its prestigious Coalport China department. There he honed his trade as a highly skilled and versatile craftsman, specialising in the Victorian still life tradition while building his reputation as an artist.
Working in oils and watercolour from his own studio-gallery in Staffordshire, Derek depicts a wide range of subjects from classic portraiture, still life and landscapes of rural England to amazingly sensitive images of domestic animals, beloved pets and wildlife.
