Bio
In April of 2008, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I wrote a blog over the course of one year called Journey to the Heart of Illness. The tumor, as someone pointed out to me, began as a “marble” in my stories. By the end of the writing, I called it a pearl.
“Did you know this?” she asked. I didn’t know, but it is how I would describe the alchemy of illness when we embrace it.
Since then, I have become an explorer, both inner and outer. Nothing inspires me as much as the beauty of the natural world. Nothing. I lived for three years in the Sonoran desert and now am blessed to live on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. I like to say “the beauty is all around us”…because it is. Now I play with words and clay to express my love for the wild things and the secret forces that move them: sun, moon, wind and fire.
I hope my love touches your love for the beauty of the earth. Whatever we love deeply, we will care for with all our strength. And the world needs our strength more than ever.
But it all begins with the loving.
Perhaps we will meet in the woods or by the sea. I will listen for your hum. May your inner fire burn white.
