Bio
My mission is to integrate creative marketing strategies in the public health programs I work with. We know a lot about what works, and what doesn’t work, when it comes to health communication. However, we continue to use the same health promotion strategies over-and-over with the same lackluster results. Communication is rapidly changing with new technology and pop culture trends; our health promotion efforts should change too.
I have 9 years of experience working in tobacco prevention campaigns focused on youth and young adults (I started this passion project when I was 15). In the past I worked for the Say What! tobacco prevention initiative to promote tobacco prevention to youth around Texas. In 2013, I received a Youth Advocate of the Year Award from The Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. I was in a fellowship for the Truth Initiative and currently serve as Professional Development Chair on the Truth Fellowship Alumni Board. I also currently work for the Tobacco Research & Evaluation Team at The University of Texas at Austin on the Peers Against Tobacco college prevention initiative; and I am a Masters student seeking a degree in Health Behavior and Health Education.
