Biography and Achievements
Dr. Melida A. Harris Barrow (Panama City, Panama) for the past twenty-fiver years, has
charged head-on numerous international business organizations and governments: Addressing
economic, political and social challenges hard-pressed in the Caribbean, Africa and the Americas, advocating for equal rights and economic reparations that many men, women and children, have been deprived of. She has hosted and attended, countless speaking engagements at school functions, businesses’ conventions, prisons, universities and churches. Dr. Melida A Harris-Barrow has spread her message on personal and professional leadership development, to local and international venues: Via internet, television and radio talk shows.
She has flourished in the eyes of economic and social justice for decades; serving her
great nation and communities around the world as: The Universal Peace Ambassador for Panama, Author, Motivational Speaker, Life Coach, International Business Consultant, Founder and CEO of Panama World Trade & Investments Foundation and Founder of Harris Business Enterprise.
In 2014, Dr. Melida Harris Barrow embarked on another mission to lobby the Chamber of
Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) for the establishment of a Caribbean/
Africa Pavilion at EXPOCOMER 2015. She was successful and was granted the rights to be the
sole promoter and administrator of the pavilion. As a result, when EXPOCOMER 2015 opened
its doors on March 11, for the first time in the thirty-three-year history of the event, there was a
pavilion dedicated to Caribbean and African businesses (a significant milestone). August 2015,
Dr. Harris-Barrow launched her foundation Love, Truth and Peace: A Global Initiative. Her successful campaign created a multi-cultural and cross-cultural business platform for young entrepreneurs, businesses, organizations and schools in the Caribbean, Africa and the Americas.
Dr. Harris Barrow has accumulated numerous achievements for her leadership, advocacy
and service, including the Afrique Award for Promoting the African Culture and Continuing to
Serve and Support People of African Descent; the Chicago Carifette Committee Award for Leadership-Contribution in Promoting Caribbean Culture; Civic Society of Panamá; Chicago Great Leader Award; iChange Nations – Women Add Value Recognition “Women Leadership” Award; Distinguished Leadership Recognition Official Medallion Winner; Appointed the Golden Rule Goodwill Ambassador; Presidential Award from the former President of Ethiopia Girma Wolde – Giorgis Award as a Human Conservation Solutionist; African Network of Southwest Florida –Keynote Speaker Award; USA Africa Bridge Builder Award; COESL – Dynamic Youths Grenada Business Hub Sustainable Development Through Entrepreneurship Conference Partnership Award; Youth Add Value – Sculpting Excellence and Advancing Leadership Award; Global Humanitarian Award by Love International from Trinidad & Tobago; Awarded for her valuable contribution to society as a permanent and high representative of the Afro-Descendant Culture in Panama from the organizers of the 5th International African Festival of Panama 2016 and she was recently awarded by the President of Costa Rica, The Honorable, Luis Guillermo Solís the “Limón Roots Award for her important philanthropic work and promotion
of business development of the Afro-descendant community at an international level.
