i am an artist.
i never used to feel comfortable calling myself an artist. i don't know why, but i never felt like one even though i spent most of my childhood compulsively drawing on everything i came in contact with (desks, books, clothes, other people).
I left home when i was 17 and spent most of 2001-2008 hitchhiking around the country. I've joined a couple DIY circuses, learned to play a few different instruments, and met more amazing and interesting people than I can keep track of.
I stopped making art when I was on the road and for years I focused more on music. It wasn't until I met an amazing girl that I remembered art.
We met at a festival in the woods where she painted my face everyday and we dressed up in the duffel bag full of costumes I'd brought. Just being around her always seems to bring art out of me, like a magnet. She's an amazing artist and a mother and I never stop marveling over her talent for both. Last time I saw her, she was making dolls, and she inspired me to make my own.
These days I've settled down a bit. I'm back in Vermont living with my mama in the most beautiful and serene place I know. It's kinda strange to have a house and so much stuff, but without it I would never have been able to make the art that I make!
All my dolls are completely handmade from thrift store or donated fabrics and they're filled with sand. I am now accepting commissions ♥
