"Mind Reading" is not hypnotism. it's the technical term for"folk psychology," or
how we try to guess what others are thinking and what they will do. Psychological scientists also do this, but they test their guesses with experiments and other methods. One of the things that makes psychology fun is that testing our common sense often shows it was wrong.
Steven Deedon writes about the psychological sciences and related topics. I previously worked as an academic editor, a magazine publishing executive and on the Library staff of Yale University. I studied in the journalism school and in fiction workshops at the University of Iowa and worked on many consumer magazines,. Iin recent years I studied psychological (and social) sciences, and analytical philosophy (auditing) at Yale.
