Stretch Kinetic
Artist Bio
After training as a fitter and machinist, it took Stretch 27 years of odd jobs to find the balance he was seeking between work and art. After joining an arts community in Cairns he finally had the time and space to work on and develop his accumulated life and technical skills into Wind Kinetic Art.
Gathering inspiration from others in the arts community and the world, and looking into ancient symbols and sacred geometry, Stretch spent three years developing and fine-tuning his art into the strong forms they are today. Each structure he creates is designed to place the viewer in a relaxed and meditative state of mind through Wind Kinetic Art and the movement of the wind.
The result is a stunning interplay between art, nature and industry, as these large but fine metallic structures – beautiful in their own right – spin with the rhythm of wind, reflecting light, changing shape in the air and creating patterns on the ground and surrounds. It’s art in motion.
