Bio
My school career was definitely not a success story - I probably changed schools, and countries (Germany, Belgium, Cyprus and England) too often, meaning that I was often asked to leave. Like most of us, my adult life has had its ups and its downs! I eventually became a Careers Adviser with Careers Scotland (aka) Skills Development Scotland) following a 13 month spell as a taxi-driver. I've also been a PA to a Scottish MEP, a Social Researcher and a Flying Officer in the WRAF, amongst other activities, but none interested me as much as my work as a Careers Adviser, working with adults, schoolchildren and young unemployed. I first went as a volunteer Careers Adviser to Langa, Cape Town, in 2006. Over the next four years I returned, recruiting local colleagues with the aim of getting local government support to establish Eyethu Careers Point, where local people of all ages could get help to develop their careers.
