Bio
A Motor City native and University of Michigan graduate (Go Blue!), I currently live in Tel Aviv, the city that never sleeps. I have been a type 1 diabetic since Valentine's Day of 1975 (kind of ironic for someone who used to spend his entire allowance on an array of the best candy available at the time - Babe Ruth, Razzles, Pop Rocks, Lick A Stick, Sweetarts, $100,000 Bar).
I've been through a few generations of type-1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) advancements: started with daily injections of Lente/Regular, Humalog/Lantus and on to the Medtronic insulin pump.
So why Sugarless 2.0? Sugarless was my first nickname after becoming diabetic, coined by Eric Schultz of my little league team because his mother now had to bring a can of Diet Faygo pop (okay,soda,,but I am a Michigander after all). That and Sugarless was already taken!
Though my transition to an insulin pump did greatly enhance and improve my quality-of-life, I have recently received a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) - we are talking about a Life Changer, the next generation of diabetes technology!
Via this blog I will share with you my (hopefully) somewhat interesting, entertaining and relevant experiences in leading an action-packed life in the 21st century, combining family (my lovely wife Meirav), work (marketing consulting), sports (avid tennis player, Yogi, weightlifter, spinner), food and T1DM technology.
