Bio
My name is legal name is: Lauren Symone Williams, my stage name: Symone
I grew up between Maryland; Charleston, S.C.; Washington, DC and Virginia
I realized that music was my path, when I started singing songs by Prince (now known as the sign???), at the age of two, back in 1998. However, I am now fourteen (14) and on a more serious path with my mom and have been since the year of 2003. In addition to participating with my church choir (Ebenezer Baptist), being in a performing arts program, I contribute to many area talent shows. My mom says that I should be a singer, because I sing all day, from the time that I awake in the morning, in the afternoon, and again at night. Then again and again, every day. Sometimes they ask me to be quiet, but I continue singing, because it makes me happy. I don't focus on being irritating, just being me. Meanwhile, my mom and I both started taking lessons for singing and lyric writing, after she saw that I would not let it end by continuously singing around the house and everywhere else that we went. She only took a couple of lessons and can seriously write an estimated ten or so songs in a day. Me, I'm the opposite. Therefore, she now writes all of my performance music. She also encourages me to practice and write my own material, for which she helps. Due that she’s been writing poetry long before lyrics. But, then her Dad passed away, and two years later her mom. That’s when she wrote a song in her mother's dedication, which I sang on her personal recorder. Her co-workers liked it and explained that we should pursue the music. So, that's what we're trying to do, because of all of the positive comments and everything mentioned here.
We both like music, especially when we're in the car, we have to have it blasting. Otherwise, it's just not the same. However, it doesn't stop there, once we're in the privacy of our home my mom writes and writes and writes, then we practice for hours, which is sometimes exhausting and tiresome. Still yet, the writing and singing has followed her to work, me to school, then both of us to the car, the streets, home and where ever else we can make time to practice. I still get frustrated when it comes to practice time because I know that the long hours of practice will follow. But then, I’m very proud once we accomplish our goals.
We perform a lot of Pop, Rock, R&B Hip Hop, and Modern Contemporary Gospel.
Our biggest music influences are: Prince of course, we love Michael Jackson and can watch his videos for hours, Chris Brown (biggest fan, right here), Tyga, Usher, Ciara, Pink, Baby Face, Mary J. Blige, Beyonce, Rhianna, Diddy, Eminem, Kid Cudi, Nickel Back, Justin Beaver (sooo cute), Christina, Ludacrist, Mary Mary, The Fray, Envogue, and Patti Labelle. But, our list goes on and on and on....Eternally!
Our style for voicing the manner in which our music should be sung makes it unique; because we try to involve all races of people, by relating the songs to life's experiences. We also try to change up the subjects to keep the mind involved. This causes us to continuously get comments like, “is that you guys?” Then, we're like, yeah! Then, they go, “wow, your stuff is nice.” We just say, thanks and move on.
We're very proud of our accomplishments thus far; everyday it’s just weird how God makes the pieces fall together. However, we’re still vying for that one day when we can achieve more. We keep telling ourselves that the right person will hear our stuff and like it; then, we won't look back, only for family and friends.
So, next on our list: Stardom, join us in getting there. Please. Thank you for your time; pls. tell your family and friends about our Single.
