Bio
Tamara Staples started out as a stylist for print and television commercials while working on personal photography projects. In 2001, Tamara published her first photography book entitled The Fairest Fowl: Portraits of Championship Chickens. Her work has appeared in Harper’s Magazine, Time Out NY, New York Times, O Magazine, New York Magazine and Town and Country to name a few. She has been featured on NPR’s This American Life and CNN. Tamara is the recipient of a NYFA Grant, PDN self promotion award, The Royal Society of Photography Bronze Medal, Critical Mass Top 50 and The Robert Rauschenberg award for The Captiva Artist Residency. Her work inspired a play by Alexander Dinelaris that ran off-Broadway, entitled Still Life. Her second photography book of chickens, The Magnificent Chicken, was published in 2013, Chronicle Books. She lives and works in NYC.
