Bio
My engagement with God seems to have begun with a question: Why am I standing on this wall?
I was born to American parents living in Dhaka, then the capital of East Pakistan. At the back of our compound was a high, whitewashed wall. On the other side was an alley that served as the compost heap for our refuse. Often enough for the memory to remain with me, I would stand on the stairwell and look over the wall as a man would dig through the pile of accumulated garbage.
So, the question often comes to me: why was I standing on that wall; and why was that man digging through our garbage? Especially in a world which Christians of my acquaintance and sensibility claim to be the realm of a loving and merciful God.
