Bio
I was born in Norwich, England in 1979. Moved to New Zealand in 1982 with my two older brothers, Mum and Dad.
My family was not the sporting type, unless it was on the Atari or home computer.
I was the fat kid at school that always got teased. I remember I didn't go swimming for about five years as I was too embarrassed of my body. I was very self conscious and it affected me daily.
One day, I decided to do something about it and started working out. I lost a few kilos and somehow landed a job with a friend at a corporate gym.
In 1999, i completed my personal training certificate and my journey began.
I learned how simple it is to lose weight when you understand your body and why we struggle with the emotional ties we experience with food. I wanted to share what I had learned with as many people I could.
Over the years, I have competed in three body building competitions, getting two second places.
For ten years I had my own personal training and nutrition business. During that time, I also did part time group exercise instructing.
I traveled to the Philippines in 2008 and started managing Fitness First health clubs. After three successful years, I moved to India to manage another Fitness First health club in Bangalore. I have been very fortunate over the years to have worked with some wonderful people.
I now reside in Australia, managing a health club and enjoying the beautiful city of Adelaide.
I follow a weights and cardio exercise program five days a week and play golf on the weekends. If given the chance, I love to play squash.
I'm a big fan of food! I love to cook and try different recipes. I am a firm believer that you are what you eat.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me!
All the Best,
Matt
