Bio
Hey Mama!
I'm Traci - mama of two, food lover, world traveler, education junkie & ex gestational diabetic.
After back-to-back pregnancies I looked to regain a sense of self and still be able to spend as much time with my kids as possible. Even though I had GD only in my first pregnancy and I wanted to forget all about it, it wouldn’t leave my mind. So, after a year of trying to figure out what to do, I remembered how I felt when I got diagnosed and how poor the process and education were. It was in that moment that I decided to fill the gap and be that person/business that I needed back then.
I founded The Gestational Diabetic to create GD friendly recipes and meal plans. My goal is to relieve your meal planning stress because the GD struggle is real! I also hope to educate and inspire you so that you’re empowered to make the best decisions for you and baby.
In case you’re curious - I spent 10 years in the Air Force coordinating logistics. In that time I earned an A.S. in Logistics and Business Management and a B.S. in Health Administration. I left to pursue a culinary passion and graduated culinary school just 5 days before my due date. Almost two years and another baby later, I started this journey. I’ve taken a few related, professional courses and have studied research reports, “Real Food for Gestational Diabetes” and “Real Food for Pregnancy;” both by Lily Nichols. I’m also partnering with a prenatal nutritionist for meal plan creation.
The site (https://thegestationaldiabetic.com) will be transforming this summer to be a super helpful place for you! I’m so excited! Check it out now and let me know what improvements you’d like to see.
