Bio
I am a self trained marathoner from Massachusetts. When I was 14 years old- I wanted to be the youngest person to ever run the Boston marathon. I started running when I was 18, and haven't stopped since. I've worked really, really hard to get where I am now. I always set new and better goals for myself every year: I want to run better, get faster, be more than I am now. I started off running a 6 1/2 hour marathon and have successfully broken four hours.
I have run 13 marathons, including 7 Boston Marathons. I have never been fast enough to qualify on my own for Boston: this is my ultimate goal. This is why I run in the 100 degree humidity, why I run through the raindrops and in the fridgid New England winters. I KNOW that I can get there someday.
My last 6 Boston Marathons have been run as a part of the Children's Hospital team. Being a part of this amazing team has really shaped me into the person I am today. I have a 8 year old patient partner named Everett who I am paired with. Together, we raise money for the hospital. Every year, as I near the end of the 26th mile, I stop to pick him up, and together, we cross that famed Boyslton Street finish line.
Everett has to do much more hard work than I- he was diagnosed at an early age with cerebral palsy, and is confined to a wheelchair. Every day of HIS life is a marathon of events.
In this blog, I also strive to explore different issues related to running and female athletes.
Follow my chronicles as a runner as I strive to make a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon!
