Bio
Two seasoned hippie homesteaders who got a somewhat late start but found our creativity in the barnyard, the kitchen, and on the computer ... after years of creating the mental dream, finally pulled our heads out of our arses to just DO IT! Now finally living the journey.
Ron is a realtor in SD (well, today anyway, for as long as he can stand it), when he's not at the farm taking care of the Guernsey milk cows and bull and their calves which he breeds to sell to other homesteaders, or tending his garlic and vegetable garden. It's his wit, wisdom, and words which you'll find peppered throught the book and this site.
Elaine is a writer at heart and by trade, who loves nature, animals, and a simple lifestyle, and creating a warm and inviting home with fabric, art, and decorating ... and, of all the strange things, enjoys bookkeeping and computer work. Affected by multiple sclerosis, she is the nose behind the computer and the inside details while Ron takes care of the outside and animal chores, and reluctantly attends to the job that makes the money to pay the taxes - The Man - for as long as there is still a Man to pay.
With an entrepreneurial spirit tucked neatly away in our back pockets, we sold our two businesses in Ohio, sold our home, sold our other holdings (we were landlords) and moved out to the middle of nowhere in South Dakota to start our farm.
