Bio
"To most people, a solution is an answer to a problem, but to a chemist, a solution is something that is all mixed up." I am DEFINITELY mixed up!
I am a Christian woman in my mid-fifties who holds generally conservative views on the fundamentals, but whose liberal views on a host of other issues occasionally put me at odds with fellow believers. I have studied Scripture and theology nearly all my life. I speak frankly, laugh as easily at myself as at anyone, and never miss an opportunity to make a good pun. (Or a bad one, for that matter.)
Most of my writing and speaking engagements for the past 25 years have been about homeschooling and parenting, including a two year stint as a newspaper columnist. I have been published in a denominational magazine and in a professional journal for quality control managers. Now that my homeschooling days are over, I am moving on to other subjects.
I grew up in San Angelo, TX, then in Utah, and now I live in Olympia, WA, an hour south of Seattle, two north of Portland, one east of the Pacific coast and a bit over that west from Mt. Rainier. I have been married for close to 33 very up and down years. I homeschooled five kids from birth through high school. Four of my children are grown and flown, two married. The youngest daughter still lives at home and is just shy of 21. I have 5 granddaughters who I call my "princess pack." I have a multitude of health issues, including migraines, fibromyalgia and bipolar II, by means of which I keep the pharmaceutical and health supplement producers employed. I enjoy making cards, crocheting, sewing, and decorating. Organization is one of my more useful vices. I have an almost perfect track record of killing houseplants. My favorite authors are Tolkien, Dickens, Austen, and I would love to meet Dorothy Sayers' creation, Lord Peter Wimsey.
I am available for speaking engagements in the general western Washington/Oregon area.
