Bio
John Book has been a music journalist for 34 years, and in that time has written for over 70 different fanzines and magazines, including his own fanzine for four years, "Intensity". Book was one of the original contributing editors to the "All Music Guide" when it was first published in 1991. As a hip-hop fan, he created the Unofficial Wu-Tang Clan Mailing List ("U-WU" {ooh-wu) as an unofficial newsletter/university for fans who were not getting information about their music in an official manner. He was one of the first to bring the idea of hip-hop discographies online. Over the years, he has been a contributor for Okayplayer, Soul Strut, KevinNottingham.com, Skyscraper Magazine, Music For America, and Funkier Than Thou.
Book was born in Los Angeles and raised in Honolulu before moving to Washington State. He has been a record collector for 30 years, and his childhood dream of becoming a radio disc jockey became true when he became one in a high school capacity. He brings the power of radio in his weekly podcast, which can be found on his home page, and enjoys heavy Twitter interaction.
