Bio
I am here to pursue my passion for performance, language, visual invention and leadership that results in enriched interconnectivity; to make art and to make a living. I am an interdisciplinary artist with experience in scenography, writing, directing, visual art and photography, but the performer remains the being that leads. I see theatre as a medium to confront silence and address fear, but one that requires a ceaseless desire to search: what is it about? How can it go further? I am looking to build creative relationships, create awareness of my own work, and seek out opportunities to create, perform, write, and direct.
At the roots of artistic excellence lies unyielding discipline and provocation - anything you create, you must defend.
Tonya Rae Chrystian is a graduate of the two-year professional program at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq in Paris, France, and holds an MA in drama from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, her native province.
