Bio
A.O. Hedrick
Rev. Anthony (Tony) Hedrick
Tony Hedrick was born in Wichita, Kansas. His parents were Southern Baptist church planters and missionaries among the American native peoples.
At an early age Tony trusted Jesus and was baptized. At fourteen years of age, however, he began to drift from his faith, and while a Fine Arts (drawing and painting) student at Kansas University he left the Christian faith entirely. He was married in 1966 to Jeanne Brown and over the next seven years they adopted one child (who is Ojibwa) and had three children of their own. Today all four children are married and along with their spouses are in some way engaged in Christian service. Tony and Jeanne have ten grandchildren.
In 1975 Tony and Jeanne committed their lives to Jesus in the small town of Merrickville, Ontario, Canada. Nine years later he was ordained into The Free Methodist Church. In 2010 he transferred credentials to The Nazarene Church of America. For almost forty years following his conversion, Tony wore many hats. He worked as an advertising agency director, illustrator, award-winning editorial cartoonist, evangelist, minister to professional athletes, church planter, pastor, Bible college instructor, and missionary. He has been welcomed to preach in hundreds of churches within thirteen different denominations.
Formerly, he was Executive Director of Adventive Cross Cultural Initiatives (ACCI/CanAM), a mission agency focused on Europe with offices in both Canada and the United States. ACCI serves in world evangelization by recruiting, mobilizing, and resourcing missionaries throughout the world. ACCI also works in Christian reconciliation in the much-divided evangelical church of Europe. He now serves ACCI as a missionary.
While he has preached in a variety of churches in nine different European nations, Tony’s heartbeat is for the peoples of Latin Europe, particularly Italy where less than 1% of the population are Bible Christians. Tony frequently travels to Italy and Europe where he ministers in evangelism and leadership development.
In his spare time, Tony paints watercolor landscapes and portraits (www.tonyhedrickart.com). His work hangs in private collections throughout America, Canada, and Europe. His wife, Jeanne, worked for six years as an editor with Bethany House Publishers, a Christian publishing company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She recently retired from The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in Charlotte as a proofreader and continues to serve as a free-lance editor with BethanyHouse / Baker. In her spare time she likes to write devotional articles and keep in touch with her growing extended family. You can read her devotionals at www.jeannehedrick.wordpress.com
