Bio
I was born in Los Angeles, CA.and raised near Long Beach. During the late 1960's, my parents relocated to Silicon Valley. Oncd settled in Palo Alto, I attended Gunn Sr. High and graduated with its Class of '76. I remained in the SF Bay Area until the late 90's. During that time I attended Foothill College, Principia College, UCSB and graduated from Prin in 1983. I double majored in Creative Writing and Dramatic Arts and combined all of my studies with private lessons in Guitar, Music Theory, Organ and Piano. Between 1982-96, I was employed by Palo Alto Melody Lane, a local Music Shop and Dealer, where I served as a salspesperson, cashier, song plugger and Store Manager. Later I performed with a number of Peninsula and Bay Area performers in Chorus, musical theater and several local Churches. My teachers included Marie Bird Garritson and Mathew Halonen, Piano; Herbert Nanney, Chapel organist Emeritus at Stanford and Composer Jeremy Carper for more pipe Organ lessons. I have performed works by Berlioz, John Rutter, WA Mozart, JS Bach, GF Handel, Fauré, Widor, Brahms, Schubert, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Pachelbel, Buxtehude, Durante, Gilbert and Sullivan, G. Verdi and Vivaldi. More recently, before Covid, I taught Piano and music theory at a local studio. Now that the pestilence has lifted, I'm available again for private Music lessons via ZOOM. I can sing, too, have a lilting Irish Tenor, but I can't dance. Thank you for your attention. Peace, love and music from Scotty P on the big island. Aged 66 going on 67 I think, am divorced and tranquil, and I resemble St. Nick.
