Bio
I’m a stitcher – hand stitching, machine stitching, I love it all. I also knit a bit – socks mostly, yes, on 4 needles – and I crochet a bit, Oh and I love working with beads. I make a few necklaces, and like to sew beads on things; and I've made felt. Occasionally I sell stuff that I have made at Xmas craft fairs. I also teach adults how to sew using a sewing machine – These include beginners who need to learn how to thread the machine, others who need help with sewing patterns, and those who are ready to learn a new skill, such as putting in a zipper. I have taught very young girls machine sewing – some of the most creative people I have every known.
I am part of a great group of crafting women who meet monthly in a farmhouse kitchen near Cullompton, my town. We women have met for a number of years, each bringing our own project to continue with, or start, and sometimes finish (Hurray!) while we talk, sharing difficult things, funny things, asking for advice, getting advice whether we want it or not. We laugh, and we get outraged, and we eat the best lunch in the district. Over the years some of the group have moved away – far far away: Karen went first with her family to Barbados. Then Lorraine went back to New Zealand with her husband Ian. We stay in touch and miss them.
