Bio
I have worked on & off for several years in varies setting as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-A) with young adults and older adults diagnose with a variety of mental illnesses such as: schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizo-affective disorder, down syndrome, autism, ADHD, mild to severe brain injuries, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, /PTSD, and other none classified brain related diseases that altered the human behavior. I have also worked with children and adolescents on & off for a period of three years as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-C) providing direct mental health services. I have been trained in using applied principles and techniques associated with Person-Centered Planning. My experience within a psycho-social rehabilitation program included adult individuals with severe mental health disorders. The program was designed to promote independence and stability for these individuals within their homes and communities. The program was also geared to assist each individual in meeting life's challenges by helping to train and teach the clients basic life skills to access community resources to help them with their daily challenges and struggles. I am also a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with over 15 years experience. I worked for several years in the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). I provided emergency care services to patients throughout the State of Virginia and North Carolina during my travels to multiple hospitals as well as working in an emergency department ER. I take great pride working within both fields and have had many life lessons with learning to help the individuals that suffer from mental illness adjust and receive the help they need to be able to live a life as normal as possible without being criticizes and stigmatizes for their mental health. I have a Master of Art in Human Services: Marriage & Family.
