Bio
Victoria Gabrielle Zegler was handed her first camera when she was 9 years-old, a loaded Pentax K1000 which she would bundle up in her knapsack every weekend. Like a curious child, life presented her with the most interesting questions.
Today, Zegler is an aspiring humanitarian photojournalist traveling to the far corners of the world to reveal the heart, and sometimes, heart wrenching truth of ordinary people and the personal struggles and triumphs they face across the globe. Currently finishing up her senior year at Central Michigan University, working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in photojournalism along with a combination of other media design and technology.
Peering beyond the surface of unfolding stories, Victoria create photographs to provide viewers the opportunity to glimpse into the lives of ordinary people from all over the world.
Zegler has traveled throughout the Midwest to make photographs as a volunteer for various non-profit organizations such as the Live to Give Foundation, The Bottomless Toy Chest and Docufest: Music | Ambiance | Production. She has also has her photography published in her universities publication, Central Michigan Life, in which she has worked with for the past three years.
Photojournalism for me is a road to the unknown, towards existence, it is both art and documentation and above all it is compassion. Allow my images to raise questions in your mind and change your ordinary understanding of everyday life; a gateway as to how you perceive the world. For you to see things as I see them and to share them with all of you defines my purpose.
