Bio
At different times in his life, Vince Crawley has been a fast-food cook, a soldier, a writer, a photojournalist, and a spokesman for the U.S. government.
He has worked in more than 50 countries and half a dozen conflict zones, publishing thousands of news and magazine articles, but during his journalism career he always preferred peace reporting to war reporting. He was a front-row Pentagon reporter for Gannett’s Army Times newspapers (http://www.militarytimes.com/) during the U.S. invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. During a two-year assignment with the U.S Department of State, he served as a public diplomacy writer, helping to explain the United States to world audiences, with a focus on European affairs.
Since 2007, Vince has lived with his family in Stuttgart, Germany, where he is a spokesman for the United States Africa Command (http://www.africom.mil). He is originally from Logansport, Indiana.
