Bio
My name is Walter Wharton, I have been carving in wood for over 25 years (not counting the whittling as a kid) having begun my serious carving in 1982. For the most part I carve in the round as opposed to carving in relief, chip carving, or other methods. I have carved all sorts of subject matter with equal skill but have settled on the realistic presentation of wildlife as my primary area of work. My work has garnered recognition at many shows and exhibits for quality and presentation including venues such as the Texas State Championship Show and the International Congress of Woodcarving. I am an instructor in woodcarving and teach in seminars and in my studio at my home. I accept commissions.
