Bio
Placing fourth in the World Spoon Playing Championships at eight years old set her on the path to rock 'n' roll, but relocating to Berlin in 2009 gave Australian singer-songwriter Sam Wareing the impetus to debut her Wasp Summer solo project.
Not including the ten months she spent busking in the city's U-Bahn, Sam has played over sixty shows a year since landing in Berlin, completed a recent tour of northern Europe and is finishing her first solo album, recorded in a couple of scorching Summer weekends in Italy and Switzerland.
Wasp Summer songs are intuitive, drawing on spacious folk and alt.country sounds and Sam has a dirty élan on electric guitar, but what usually elicit attention are her expressive, tensile voice and her way with an ear-worm chorus.
Sam is also a founder member of the Berlin-based A Headful of Bees artist collective and just celebrated the 20th show in her monthly Sofa Salon living room concert series that showcases Berlin and International singer-songwriters and poets.
