Bio
For the past 14 years, I have been a parent and a teacher of humanistic education at Play Mountain Place (Los Angeles, CA), one of the oldest humanistic alternative schools in the U.S.. This school is inspired by the work of Carl Rogers and the philosophy of process over product. The child is seen unconditionally with positive regard, and according to Rogers, through this process– along with genuineness and empathic understanding— growth and psychological healing can occur. The main cause of suffering, in this school of thought, is due to people not being able to accept or allow themselves to fully experience all of who they are—which includes aspects that are not always socially acceptable.
I am on the board of the Mindful Living Revolution, and began my practice of meditation and mindfulness with its founder, Deborah Eden Tull, over 7 years ago.
I have been both a dedicated member and alternating facilitator of a small weekly meditation/mindfulness group for the past five years, and have stayed with this practice group through many incarnations, as sharing practice is both a passion and a cornerstone in my life.
I have studied and been certified in Kundalini Yoga with Gurmukh in Los Angeles and participated in Marie Forleo’s B-School, gaining valuable online marketing knowledge.
Recently, I wrote a book based on a series of love letters written to a friend over a period of 120 days. It’s part memoir, part inspiration, and part mindfulness practice.
