Bio
Yvonne Daley is the author of six nonfiction books, the latest of which, Going Up the Country, will be published by University Press of New England in . Her books include Going Up the Country: When the Hippies, Dreamers, Freaks and Radicals Moved to Vermont; Octavia Boulevard, The Bend in the Road, Vermont Writers: A State of Mind; A Mighty Storm, and An Independent Man (with Sen. James M. Jeffords.) Yvonne is the author of more than 5000 news, feature and investigative articles that appeared in the Boston Globe, People, Time, Rutland Herald, Vermont Life, San Jose Mercury News, Sunset and many other publications. The recipient of more than 40 national and regional awards from the Associated Press, the New England Association of Newspaper Editors, the Vermont Press Association and other news and community organizations, Yvonne is also the director of the Green Mountain Writers Conference. A John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University, Yvonne taught for 15 years at San Francisco State University. Yvonne's next book will be on the importance of journalism, reflecting her own and other journalists' reflections on how journalists uncovered illegalities, social wrongs and otherwise strove to inform readers, viewers and listeners and celebrated the actions of ordinary people who helped make the world a better place.
