Bio
I started out as an artist and art historian in the US and came to Paris - a while ago - initially to paint. I've since moved along a line that has taken me through museums to the business of business, media and communications.
But what keeps me in France? Esthetics, creativity, a way of life ... all of that for sure. Whatever it is, I have made a conscious decision to focus on 'that which is made' - preferably by entrepreneurs with an edge or people who have spent years and years (10 000 hours +) perfecting their product - in France.
I'm using a pen name: Zelia Zatelier. Zelia, because that is one of my French great grandmothers' name and she was a 'modiste' or hat-maker at the turn of the last century, and Zatelier because ateliers are wonderful places: they're laboratories for thought, creation and testing - as well as places to exchange.
France has been this atelier to me. Through 'I love Made in France' I'd like to explore and share what I perceive as France's creative force, and what keeps me here today. Juliet Gundry Mills
