Bio
I'm a crossfitter and needed a diet that is easy to follow, keeps my body in check, and maximizes performance. The Zone is amazing, and although can be complicated, its very do-able. First starting out was hard because I wasn’t sure what my meals and snacks should consist of. In order to help others, I figured I would create a site with recipes and meals that can be used as a cheat sheet :) Not everything on the site is 100% Zone, since I am creating the recipes and not always going to give exact amounts. I dont worry so much about block amounts, focusing instead on balancing carbs and protein. In order to eat enough, the carbs have to be healthy.
I've recently become Gluten-Free (no allergy, just try to avoid) and focus instead on getting carbs from fruit and veggies. I also don't worry about fat as long as it's a healthy fat source. My "Zone" diet is just eating healthy choices until I’m full.
My diet needs to be easy, delicious, and not based on deprivation. It also need to be something that I can do while out with clients, eating out or traveling without being “weird”.
I am as picky as possible about the types of food I eat. Its important for me ethically to eat as many free-range, antibiotic free meats as possible. Veggies & fruits are organic as well, as much as possible. I also try to avoid GMO’s again, for ethical reasons. Obviously this isn’t something you can do all the time, especially when dining out or a guest at someone else’s table, so in situations I can control, this is what I do. Do what you want, but I feel like the less chemicals/modifications in your food, the better it is. Start with good ingredients, and you will finish with great tasting food.
