image in customized menu

  Hi,

  does anybody know how to add an image in the menu like a home instead of home page or a flag for a language.
  I am below beginner in CSS an struggling to add a flag (english) in the second menu linked to child categories , so I will really appreaciate any help.
  I found some help on google but it was mainly for twitter icon
