Bio
In my early thirties, I worked for two years in a small agricultural town in the Dominican Republic. This experience definitively transformed my worldview, leading me to understand the planet from south to north and to embrace new cultural norms. I subsequently undertook significant trips to Cuba, staying with local families. In Montreal, I forged a deep friendship with a man from Havana. Gradually grasping his iconoclastic worldview, I was reminded of my readings of Don Quixote and Candide. The spark ignited to write a fictional work worthy of illustrating this anti-hero, an archetype of the Afro-Cuban cultural universe, thus rekindling the unspoken flame of my youth: writing. This gave birth to L’avènement de l’Homme nouveau, in French, l’Harmattan éditor, ( The Advent of the New Man), a historical novel, but even more so a picaresque one.
In 2023, I participated in the writing of Marcas portuguesas, under the direction of Joaquina Pires and Ernesto Matos, a collection of texts and photos celebrating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Portuguese community in Montreal, by writing the chapter Vizinhancia, or Neighborhood, which earned me praise from members of the community.
For the past few years, I have been writing chronicles of my bicycle journeys across Mediterranean Europe. I recount my travels in them with a certain wit. These chronicles are spontaneously followed by more than 1,500 readers in over 36 countries. They generate comments that indicate to me that my messages resonate.
