Redirect non existing category page

    Recently I increased the number of post showed per page from 10 to 24.
    After this GWT star showing hundreds of 404 error because a lot op category page no more exist; In fact increasing the post per page reduced the total pages of every category/archive/… For example a category where I have 1000 post, before this changes there were 100 pages, and now around 42 page. So there 58 404 error on GWT, and the same for every page of my blog.

    At first I thought to take all this url and manually redirect every single url using the htaccess file, but this is not the best solution because since we publish new post every day a page that today doesn’t exist, tormorrow could be available again.
    And It will require too much work to go every day yo look what changed.

    So I’m wondering if there’s a way to automatically redirect all the non existing pagination page to the last existing page or also the first.

    For example:
    http://www.mywebsite/category/tech/page/1
    http://www.mywebsite/category/tech/page/2
    ….
    ….
    http://www.mywebsite/category/tech/page/10

    Redirect all the not existing page like:
    http://www.mywebsite/category/tech/page/20
    To the last page available of that caregory, so:
    http://www.mywebsite/category/tech/page/10
