Site redirect

  Hi, I created recently a WordPress site with a personal domain. Now I would like to redirect my users from my old blog (a free wordpress.com site) to the new one. I saw there is this option:

  https://wordpress.com/domains/add/site-redirect/hackastat.wordpress.com

  Using this service, I’d like to understand:
  1) if there will be a punctual redirect (any old page will be redirected to the new one or to a general page of the new site);
  2) What will be the status code for the old page?

  Hi Cappe!

  The redirect will be to a specific URL, so if you specify newdomain.com then a visit to any page at hackastat.wordpress.com will redirect to the URL you specified when adding Site Redirect.

  If however, you are redirecting between two identical WordPress sites (matching permalink structure and content), all URLs will redirect automatically.

  The redirection code is 301, i.e. a permanent redirect which is also good for SEO purposes https://moz.com/learn/seo/redirection
